I have defaulted on my student loans and now it is due on default. My loans are for 30K, I barely make 29K and I have other debt. Can I file for bankruptcy now that my student loans have defaulted?
Hi,
I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News special edition.Check it out here:

I'm about to graduate with the sort of degree that should enable me to find a job wherever I like, and I'm thinking about heading to Alaska.
I hope to use the years between finishing my Masters and heading back to school to get my student loans paid back, so the idea is to make as much money as possible. Is the cost of living there so ridiculously high I won't be able to break even or come out ahead?
What else should I know before considering a move like that?
I have been to Alaska and to Australia (as one of your other answerers have responded;)
Alaska used to be the land of opportunity but it has changed somewhat. It seems like everyone wants to go to Alaska and to Aussie land sometime in their lives.
You can still make big bucks in Alaska . Right now their Senator is under investigation for fraud but he scrapes in the most money for his state then ANY other state in the Union.
Aussie land is a great place but they all drive on the wrong side of the road. Did you know that? When they come down at the road at you it looks like a passenger without a driver….yipes!…..
Australia is beautiful and the people talk funny . I would look into each option before I decided….Call some Travel Agents and get the scoop…..ok.? do what I say! I am the boss! ha ha
edit
there are seven women to every man in Alaska (if that would make any difference)
Does that mean they will give me a higher student grant?
And do they need proof that i will be staying at a halls of residence?
As far as I know you get up to a certain amount for living at home and up to a certain amount for living away (don’t think it matters whether it’s halls or a student house) and the grants are income based… But they’re pretty strict, wouldn’t be a good plan to say you’re living in halls if you’re not lol!
a person said"For example, California residents will be able to apply for a California no credit check student loan and Florida residents for a Florida no credit check student loan"
this true
not in NC. when I got my loan from the state bank they did credit checks.

I am a special ed teacher working in a school in poverty, but the programs I found only pay off Perkins loans. I simply don't make enough to pay off my loans and pay for any other living expenses! I obtained my first loan in the fall of 1997, graduated undergrad in May 2001, got graduate loans spring 2002-fall 2004 finishing grad school in December 2004.
If you are truly not making enough money you can continue to defer you loans due to financial hardship. Call them up or check out their website.
My husband and I have a large amount of debt due to student loans. However, only a couple of thousand are through the government. The rest are through private companies. If we were to file bankruptcy I know that the federal student loans would still have to be repaid. But what about the private student loans? Would those be charged off or would we still have to repay those as well?
Private student loans are not covered by bankruptcy
I have a question. My lender is trying to put in the the My Community Mortgage Program… I believe someone had told me that even if my student loans are deferred, they must count them in the debt-ratio. My student loans are deferred until December 2011. Can someone tell me what the best program would be for me? I make 34 k a year and in 2005 i recieved 500 christmas bonus and in 2006, $3500 in christmas/profit sharing bonuses. Can these be averaged? I am also anticipating $6,000 this year. THANK YOU FOR ANY ADVICE.
It is a mystery to me where anyone with 40K year salary can buy a house. Where do you live, in Idaho?
