private student loans
First fill out your free student aid applcation here, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
It will tell you how much your efc, or family contribution shall be. If your school is accredited for federal financial aid you could get a free grant called a pell grant for up to about $4000. If not then you could alway get a Perkins Loan or a Stafford loan. Then there are always the direct and FFEL loans.

In South Carolina wage garnishment is limited to three specific instances: when you owe money to the government, owe money for child support, or were a resident of another state and had a garnishment order against you and then moved to South Carolina. As a result in most cases debt collectors cannot threaten to garnish your wages. For more information on debt collection, visit our YouTube channel at SCDCATV.

This is the first year that it has been in default. I was told by two reps. that they do see and offset for the state but not the federal. Can i trust what they are telling me? I'm not working right now and i could really use the money to pay most of the loan and other bills..
No, If you have an offset for a student loan the odds are it is for both your federal and state. Call this number to see 1 800 304-3107 if your federal refund will be offset.

I have student loans that I use for tuition, book, school supplies, housing, and everything else it takes to live. Is there a place I have to claim these loans?
Even though I am using mostly loan money to pay for my tuition do I still qualify for the South Carolina state tuition tax credit?
Thanks
no, you do not claim loans as income. when you start to pay the loans back, you may be eligible to get a student loan interest deduction.
yes, you can qualify for tuition credits even though you paid with loans.
