Will government student loans pay for supplies and equipment as well as tuition?

I want to go back to school for Photography, but will need to buy a computer and better camera. Will government student loans cover those expenses?

You can do whatever you want once your basic bills are paid.

If you qualify for a loan you will get the difference (if any) between what you owe the school and the amount of the loan you have gotten. You just might have enough to buy a computer and camera. Check with your school and see if they have loans available for computers or ones that can be rented while you are getting your money situation together.

They are eligible expenses so yes as long as there are funds avaliable to borrow, if you are a freshman you will only get 6625 (independent) in loans and if you don’t have anything else that might be used all in tuition. Talk to your financial aid office to find out details and request addional funds.
