If you go to grad school, you should be able to put your loans in deferment anyway (as long as you enrolled half time).

Also, do you plan on taking out any loans in grad school? Then I would wait and consolidate AFTER you finish your degree.
References :
NEVER EVER consolidate a Perkins loan with your other Stafford Loans. If you do, you definitely lose all of your Perkins deferment and forgiveness provisions. Additionally, doing so will convert the loan to an unsubsidized loan.
References :
It is definetly a good idea to consolidate student loans. It will end up being more in the long run, however, your payments will be less (BIG TIME LESS). I just wen through this and I used NEXT STUDENT. They are really nice, and broke everything down for me.

The only issue you may have is that I believe a Perkins loan is a private loan (if it isn't, ignore this part). You can't consolidate Gov. loans and Private loans into one lump bill, and most companies won't even touch the private loan at all.

Hope this helped.

P.S. - Extend out your payments - It never hurts to pay early (make sure that whatever company you go through has no pre-pay penalties) on your loan - but if money is tight - that is when you get into trouble
References :
My life....
